This year, this most important festival of Muslims will take place under the shadow of Corona virus. On this occasion people usually travel, hang out with their families and gather for a sumptuous meal, but this year will not be possible. Most countries have strict restrictions to prevent the outbreak of the virus.

Depending on the sight of the moon, this holiday will begin on 23 or 24 May and will end on the fast of Ramadan. Muslims in Gulf countries have been fasting since April 24, after the moon sighting of Ramadan from 23 April. Friday is the 29th day of Ramadan in this region.

According to a Gulf News report, the UAE government has formed a moon-watching committee. The committee will hold a virtual meeting in the evening under the chairmanship of the UAE Minister of Justice.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Gazette reported that astronomers at the Majmah University Observatory near Riyadh in Saudi Arabia confirmed that Shawwal's crescent moon could not be seen on Friday the 29th of Ramadan.

The report here said, "According to astronomical scientific calculations, the sun will set at 293 degrees at 6.33 pm and the moon at 6.26 pm on Friday, Ramadan at 29. This means that the moon will be 13 minutes before sunset."
